Jože Mermal, who was proposed to the Municipality of Ljubljana (MOL) by the Managers' Association of Slovenia, based on a thorough justification of his extraordinary achievements, became this year's Honorary Citizen of the City of Ljubljana. The decision on the awarding of the title was adopted by the Municipal Council of MOL in Ljubljana, on 24 April 2017. This is the highest recognition awarded by MOL to individuals who greatly contribute to the reputation, significance and development of Ljubljana.

The awards committee chaired by Nada Verbič, explained that the head of BTC and a member of the Executive Board of the Managers' Association received the title of the Honorary Citizen of the City of Ljubljana for his cooperation with the city on several occasions; these include active cooperation in the Ikea project and signature of the contract with the city and the state for the arrangement of the traffic infrastructure in the area of BTC. In addition to the above, BTC also provides financial support to the projects such as the Franja Marathon, the Ljubljana Castle, Cankarjev dom, various sports clubs and the Ljubljana Festival.

We congratulate Mr. Jože Mermal for the prestigious title of the Honorary Citizen of the City of Ljubljana. The title will be officially conferred on 9 May at the Ljubljana Castle.
