Slovenia among 15 most successful countries in Europe
The Managers' Association participated at the 7th Economic Consultation: Economic Situation in Slovenia, organised by the party N.Si in Ljubljana on 17 April. Answering the questions of where are we, what we want and what needs to be done and exchanging opinions were Sonja Šmuc (Executive Director of the Managers' Association), Marie-Luise Dött (German MP and President of the catholic entrepreneurs association), Matej Tonin (Head of the NSi parliamentary group), Yuri Sidorovich (Deloitte partner responsible for the Adriatic region), Matej Kovač (Director of IUS Software Croatia) and Pavel Reberc (President of the NSi Economic Club).
As a representative of the economy, Sonja Šmuc said that in many areas Slovenia is in a very good and enviable position, as it is in the 20th place of the Prosperity Index and even the 1st place as regard the quality of the environment. She added: "We are also very high as regards security. We have good things. However, we need to repair the system, which is complex. We set up the system ourselves; therefore, we can also change it ourselves."
Answering the question where Slovenia wants to go, she said that in 2011 the Managers' Association proposed the Covenant on a Successful Future of Slovenia, in the scope of which Slovenia should set the economic goal of getting among 15 most successful countries in Europe, and continued: "There is no reason for not being among 15 most successful countries. We set obstacles to ourselves."
